| | I am 5'11, 140 lbs., and have been riding dirtbikes for years. I've been riding a Ninja 500 for the past year, and I want something with a little more gusto. I like the styling of the CBR 954, but am kinda worried about the horsepower it puts out. I know that a 600 might work well, but I really like the 954. Does this bike sound out of my league, or do you think it can be handled properly? |

| going from a ninja 500 to a 954 wouldn't exactly be considered a "little" more gusto... Big jump. period. A better jump for what you are looking for would be an F4i or a ZX6 or 7! both bikes will fit you height just fine too. But if you feel like you have to have the 954... then make sure your thinking is more like, "Mucho gusto!!" Ride Red

| 6'2" 185 lbs. Started riding this sping on a ninja ex250, upgraded after 3 monts 4200 miles to a 2002. It's a great bike, and I love it a lot. After the jump I went through, I'd say it's defintally something you can handle if your very carefull for the first few weeks (I did an accidental wheelie my 2nd week passing somebody .
Another thing, the cops LOVE trying to chase these things...make sure you don't attract their attention. |

| I went from an EX500 to a CBR954. It was like night and day. Oodles of power on the CBR. You have to take it easy and respect it's power, until you learn to control it. The CBR has become the perfect bike for me. It's as if we were one, on the road.
I think it's the best bike you can buy. |

| How many years have you ridden on the street? A 600 is safe but let me warn you last year 2002; three 600's in stock condition broke the track record at Willow Springs, California. Unless you have several years of experience and/or superbike school training, stick with the 500 until you do. Good Luck.

| I started out on a 1992 kawasaki ninja zx-600d and i rode that for a tear, then i bought my 954rr and everyone sad that it was too big for me, but i rode it easy for like two weeks then i was cruisin. It is a big jump but don't be stupid and respect the bikes power and you will have no problem bro. peace

| It's got treble the power of the GPz500/Ninja500, can you handle it?
It weighs more too, so it will be a bit harder to change direction if you need to avoid something.
If you get the 954 then please get some advanced road rider training as well as treating yourself to a couple of instructed trackdays. |

| | I am 5'11 and i weigh around 137 lbs, i have been riding for about a year on the street.. i started out with an fzr600, then i rode a 96 zx7 for about 3 months.. i now have an 03 954rr; if you are careful you can handle anything ; i think.. i do think however it has the most torque than alot of bikes.. just remember to be careful and you should be fine.. |
