Looking at buying one of these. What if your starter dies? No recoil backup. We have pull started a 500HO with EBS. Can you get the backup ropes from the sleds that wrap around the clutch and pull start it? Only if your the hulk??? I really want a 600 but my settle for the 500 knowing I have a backup starting system. I have a 3 year old that likes to leave keys on!!

Do not get the 500! There is completely different shift linkage that will allow you to shift in-between gears - wasting a belt. My 500 never started or idled in the winter - the EBS system was blamed (by the dealer)as the cause since there is a drag on the engine at all times.

Do not buy the 500 - Extremely Poor cold weather idle. Bad shift linkage

I own one of these 2004 polaris 600 and
trust me you will break down. They have a chronic stahling problem, no-starts
as well as difficult to start @-2 or colder weather if your lucky it might fire once?
Its been in 6 times and they keep re-jetting only to make things worse with only 287
miles on the odometer. My buddies have them and they are the same "junk".Instead
of calling them "polaris" they should call them "florida". Buy a YAMAHA 660 and
blow the doors off those clunkers! Dont be a fool?

Definitely buy the sportsman 600,it has more power and runs very smooth. If you ride both before your purchase i am sure that you will agree that the 600 is an all around excellent machine.

Chris your an idiot. Just because you like Yamaha's more doesn't mean you need to come and dis Polaris. Just to let you know my "Polaris" 600, just got done pulling a Grizzely 660 outa the water because it can't seem to get through it without haveing the belt slip. Buy a Sportsman 600 there nice.
