Is this machine only for dunes? I would like to be able to ride it in the woods without worrying about breaking anything.

You should look into the baja model. The DS650 is built solid, built to last. You should have no problem with it in the woods.

This bike kicks massive butt for trail riding. It will haul ass. It will creep and crawl. It sure doesn't want to die. Engine breaking is great. Extremely stable bike, it won't flip unless you really make it. You can beat it to death, and it will ask for more.

This bike is the most sturdy, beefy, hardpulling one on the market. just look at the componets and compair. I ride a 02 with a big gun and a K&N. It is a little loud but it has BIG balls. Go ride and have fun.Dont forget your helmet

My neighbor has broken two control arms in the ds 650, snapped the plate that the handle bars connect to, and bent the stock bars as well. W e now have a problem with the transmission slipping out of gear. I find the ds to be a handfull on the trails and was not able to keep up with banshee's or 660 raptors. I feel this is more of a wide open terrain quad, as it is heavy and wide and makes for difficult articulation in tight spots,
