Read the reviews. The best over all comparisons I've seen by ANY tests was put out in the October 2002 issue of "farm industry news". An abbreviated version can be found on the net but I FULLY recommend that you get the magazine if you want all the answers.
As for the weak frame - may be, BUT it may also be that you hit at a strange angle and it was a fluke thing. I know the Prairie has aluminum wheels which probably got bent @ 10 mph; but, I'm sure you checked that out - sounds like you take your riding seriously so something so simple probably isn't to blame in your case. You do lose some strength when you go to the independant components over a swing arm. Like I said in the other question, it really depends how you plan on riding (and where).

All I can say is read the reviews in th atv magazines. I have read many articles. One I read was an article for the best biggest badest atv. Out of every article I read, the 650 prairie completely dominated the competition. The polaris 700 has irs and so does the Yamaha 660. But the kawasaki has a strait axel. The kawasaki was best choice in every article I have read. I have driven all of them and the 650 prairie just kills the other two when it comes to all out performing. More torque, more power, more stable of a ride. I could go on and on about how it is the best "big" atv there is but I want to keep this reply short. But honestly I would go with the Kawasaki.

The mud question I can answer. My Friend just bought a prarie 650 and we decided to go riding in some fields that were extremley muddy after heavy rains and tractor ruts. I have a Honda Rancher 350 4x4 with vampires and a high lifter lift kit. I have a lot more ground clearance compared to the prarie with stock tires and plus the vampire tires that are at home in the mud. I just knew I would kill him in the mud even though his engine was twice the size of mine I figured with hondas Low first gear this was going to be interesting. I quickly realized with that prarie in low gear and still in two wheel dirve he was going thru stuff just a easy as i was in 4wd. We were not getting stuck until a long stretch of muddy ruts stopped the prarie in its tracks that was in two wheel drive still after i went thru in 4 wheel drive. I got him out barley after he put it in 4wd then i started back in the hole in 4wd and i got stuck he got me out and he locked the prarie in 4wd drive, gave it some gas and walked the dog on that mud hole time and time again. I felt bad watching a atv with stock tires and no lift go thru some hole time and time again after i was stuck in it. The power of the 650 Prarie is scary and i mean really scary. It will go 70 mph on the highway quick. With all that power turing those tires over it did not just move the mud around the hole it bacically just shot it up in the air behind him leaving it scattered in the field. I wamt one so bad I cant stand it.

I have been going to a"stave lake" ina truck for 5 years. i recently bought the kawi 650cc to play with out there. this is VERY muddy terrain! The machine is bloody amazing out there, and i hva e actually had to use the 4-wheel-possi option in the mud. the only time we had to be pulled out was when we high centered the machine in a really REALLY deep tire rut. shortly after we got out, a 4x4 with 44 inch tires etc etc etc got lost in the same rut. this quad LOVES mud! just remember to run her through a creek after to wash the poor thing so she can breathe!! We are buying a 2nd quad... either the same model or the kawi 700v-force. Kawi makes a really strong machine.

Prairie can't do the things the other two can. When you get in the really nasty stuff, you better have a winch.
