| I have never owned or ridden a motorcycle and am looking to get my first one (at 34) I am about 180 lbs and am really debating between the KLX 300 and the TTR 250. Is the KLX too hot for a beginner? Would I be getting in over my head? I already have a quad, and it is too slow.

| since you are a beginer. any bike will be tough to ride. best thing to do is go and check out both machines and see which one is more comfortable. set on it and get a feel and see which one you like.since both are 4 strokes the power won`t be bone smashing right off the start. no radicial power band to deal with, and you can make mistakes that won`t leave you on your back. take your time and enjoy motorcycling is heaven.

| at 37 i found the klx to kik a**
great power band with lots of low end so you can start out slower and plenty of power when you are ready for it
