I have oil leakage into air cleaner but not half a quart in 500 miles. A fix can be found at a sportster website, called Sportster.org/xl-list They have info on installing the fix that includes a drain and a catch for oil. This website also has about a 5 years of questions and answers that might help you with other needs on your sportster. Good luck, Mike

Yes my 883c started with the same problem at around 1500 miles. The dealer said that this was pretty normal while the engine was still quite tight and that if it didnt settle down he would investigate it further....It has but oil now leaks from both rocker covers its obviously an engine breathing problem methinks!!

You need to investigate a product called "The Cure". It is a kit that allows you to enlarge the oil drainback holes in the heads. The kit also includes a push-in tube that raises the height of the breather pipe above the level of the pooled up oil in the heads. I have installed this and it works great. No more oil collecting in the air cleaner. This kit is around $35.
