Spark Knock - I have a 2005 classic 1600 and just love the bike except for a spark knock. I ride about 8k a year and have had the bike for just about one year. The spark knock started to appear about 5k and get worse ever since. Kawasaki tells me it is normal and to just down shift into a lower gear keeping the r's up. The dealer claims there are no adjustments to make since it is fuel injected and just live with it. I have heard several solutions. 1- try a cooler plug. I did go one cooler and it reduced some but not all the way. Can I go two cooler - remember I live in some cold weather. 2- I have heard use a carbon cleaner. 3- I have heard try going to an 87 octane, I was told this is the inverse of what you would expect to do, but was told the design of the piston creates the spark knock and the additives in premium create carbon which creates spark knock. Like I said I love the bike, but this spark knock is annoying and I know will damage the engine in the long run.

Go to the following url(www.gadgetjq.com/tps_adjust.htm) and there is an answer for your problem. I am having the same problem with my 1600 - 2006 nomad and I think I will get my dealer to try this. Good Luck, MIke.
