| just wondering if 2005 or 2006 plastic will fit on a 2001 cr125?

| With some slight modifications - yes. I haven't done it yet (to my '01 CR125) but have researched and plan to make the swap.
You'll need a complete plastic set from an '02 CR125/250 as well as a gas tank and airbox.
The fenders bolt right up as well as the tank and airbox - however, you will need to remove the side panel tabs from the subframe and relocate them 1/2 to 1/4 inch.
The lower radiator shrouds will not line up; however you can either fabricate something to correct this, or as I've read, you can use Works Connection radiator braces for 00-01' model year and drill new holes in them that will allow the newer fenders to attach.
And lastly; you will need to mess with fitting the boot to the newer style airbox. I was not able to get a definite answer on that so I'll have to figure it out for myself as well.
