I've been reading that there is a problem with the new Harley 07 transmissions (excessive noise in 5th and 6th gear). Has anyone heard about this. I'm about to buy a Heritage Classic but will hold off if there is a problem.

I have heard a lot about 5th gear noise. Bad loud noise. Also these 07s
run so lean they are a joke. They will cook you. Salesman friend told me off the record to find an 06.

The biggest problem you'll have is you paid $10,000 more for an emblem and still not have a bike as good as a Kawasaki Vulcan 2000. Thats the best bike you can buy. Harleys feel like mini bikes once you ride this bike.

As a person that has been riding 37 years, I appreciate motorcycles in general, Harleys more than most. I am glad you love your Kaw, but as for your opinion that your bike is the best, that's all it is; an opinion. For you, it may be the best. For me, there is nothing like a Deuce. Got a problem with bikes running lean? Contact the bozos forcing EPA standards on manufacturers.

My wife just bought a new 08 Heritage and so far after 1000 miles it is just a continuation of the 07 noise, heat, vibration, gear chatter and surging problems, as well as some new ones, i.e. excessive gear lash and clutch actuating noise (clunk), that will be at our expense to try and correct.
