I saw a magazine article that claimed when you back off the throttle the bike does not slow down like most bikes do because of the new flywheel design. I like the VN900 but have not bought one because of that (supposed) problem. I have not seen another similar complaint in all of the reviews I've read. Is this a problem and if so, how serious of a problem is it?

I thought my bike was having this problem, but when I adjusted the throttle shutoff cable, it went away. I love this bike and have no regrets about buying it. I love hearing people say (nice bike), that never used to happen with my 94' vulcan 500.

I find no such problem. In fact it is a plus. You don't get that jerk you get with some bikes, but the bike DOES slow down, and downshifting will give you the same engine breaking if you like.

This is a very real problem that is affecting a lot of the VN900s (visit one of the many Kawasaki forums to see what I mean). The throttle seems to stick in third gear when cruising between 30 and 40 mph. There are a number of theories as to the cause but no doubt that the problem is real. Some VN900 owners have had new CPU's put in that seems to have fixed the problem but others have done the same and are still experiencing it. We're hoping Kawasaki takes a hard look and comes up with a fix soon. Otherwise, the bike is amazing. Also, the throttle stick goes away with braking, downshifting, or after enough time (10 to 15 seconds has been my experience).

Sometimes my bike does this and sometimes it doesnt. I think it has something to do with the idle management in the computer. I know my throttle is not sticking and I have never felt in danger by this problem.
