| moving off in first gear,the bike has no power,if you increase the rpm to about 2500-3000 it moves well,less rpm you get like a rattle from the trans.

| I have just gone through same prob with my 1984 aspencade messed around when i thought tappets were getting noisy but even after oil change tapping became banging. I dropped 1 quart of oil out and topped up with transmittion oil and ran engine at a steady 2000 rpm for a good 15 mins, then replaced oil with fresh, I appear to have a new bike now and all the strange noises have gone away she sounds like a new bike now. hope this helps.
