The oil filter you need for your bike is a Honda 5X28. Your bike requires 2.5 quarts of oil. I have the exact same bike and have been using AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-40 for 4-cycle engines. Hope this helps.

I used stock replacement oil filter purchased at the local Honda shop and 2.54 qt of Honda Pro HP4S full synthetic 10W-30. A bit high price at $9 per qt but noticed an improvement in performance.

I have a 98 A.C.E and it has been running fine on Castrol 10-40 Auto oil. I also use auto oil filters from Wal-Mart or Advance. I have not found any difference in using these things as opposed to the high priced motocycle stuff. It is just not needed.
