| I have a '00 500 and was wondering about the rpm's at highwaty speeds(70-75). At these speeds it seems the rpm is a little high, in the 5500 to 5800 range. The tires are the stock size and I have not changed either of the sprockets. I hadn't really given much thought to this until a friend who has an 800 mentioned this. Also at times it acts like it isn't in 6th gear, but when I try to shift it won't go any higher. Any Ideas?

| | Rpm range is normal, this bike makes peak power at 8,500 rpm, and red line is in the 10,000 rpm range. I've ridden an '03 for a year now, and have noticed that sometimes mine feels like it's in a lower gear than 6th. Dealer says this is normal, it's just the "buzzy vibrations" of the high revving parallel twin motor. |
