I have a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 2000. After riding for a while it starts making a chirping noise that gets worse the longer I ride. It sounds like it may be in the drive train. Anyone knos if a fix will have my eternal gratitude if they would share it with me. This is driving me nuts.

there has been a new service bulletin from kawasaki about improper torque of the front pulley during assembly. there is now authorization for repair, and i think this
is what causes the chirping sound everyone is having. too bad they don't replace the ones that have suffered degradation over the course of a few thousand miles because those are probably ready to go.

I received a recall letter that states that it was improper torque due to the type of lubricant used during assembly . The letter states that they will remove the drive pulley and inspect the splines on the pulley and shaft and replace one or both if they are worn .They also state that they will reassemble with the proper lubricant and proper torque .Mine has around 11000 miles on it now and I'm betting the shaft and sprocket will have to be replaced on mine .I hope that cures the annoying noise on what is otherwise a stellar cruiser .

had my 2004 with 2300 miles "fixed" under the kawasaki recall for the front pulley. it did nothing for the horrendous squeal. its going back in. has to be premature rear
wheel bearing failure. starts to squeal like a dull drill bit going through hot metal. don't get too excited about the recall fixing anything....
