| Triumph engines are noisy from the start. But, your noise might be and probibly is the alternator. On the back side of the alternator there is a drive impeler that fits into what is call a cush drive. This impeler tends to loosen up just a bit and causes a buzzing or rattling noise below 3000 rpm and when accelerating. Remove the alt. and use RED locktight on the 6mm bolt, splines, and tourque to spec. This has been an ongoing problem on my adventurer. Try that. Good luck, Steve.

| | I just purchased a well cared for 98 Trophy 900. I was very disappointed to hear an intermittent (but most of the time) rattle at idle and especially when accelerating from first to second. It turned out to be a loose flange where the middle exhaust pipe exits the engine. Perhaps this is the source of your rattle. Good luck. |

| does the sound you're hearing remind you of a set of keys vibrating or rattling when you hit the throttle? I've wondered what that sould was for some time, but I'm not sure which of the possible causes can be attributed to my problem. I'm not a mechanic and I wonder what it takes to make the first adjustment by removing the alternator.

| Mine also. Dealer response was "that is the way they all are".However, how do you like the serious growl when in acceleration mode ? A real bad boy! Great bike.
