I would like to know of your view of this bike as a touring bike? How is the suspention on this bike will it bottom out out on bumps, is it a rough hard ride?. I will have to travel to a dealier on the coast for a test ride as local dealer has no test bikes so im looking for feed back first to see what it is like. the coast is 960km away so it is a good ride (596 miles).

The shocks are adjustable so you can adjust them accordingly to what weight load you are carrying. A 600 mile ride on this bike would be quite comfortable.

Just did a 500+ mile trip. Even with 2 herniated disk the ride was exceptional. Could not be happier with the 2006 softail standard ( Love it )

I rode 5-6 hrs straight one time. It was great. I was gonna change stock handle bars, but now I like them. Pretty good position for long trips. I'll probably put easy brackets for saddle bags.

I ended up keeping the original bars because they are more comfortable. The LePera barebone solo seat is not good for riding 8 hrs/ day. Easy Brackets are great. Luggage rack will be another great addition. The footpegs need to upgrade if you gonna ride something like MD to FL/SC/NV.
