| | I am considering the Vstrom650, but am somewhat vertically challenged at 5' 8". Has anyone had luck with changing the rear suspension link to lower the bike? |

| I've been riding a 2006 V-Strom 650 for about 2 months now. I'm 5'8" and it's fine. I set the preload both front and rear (easy to do) to it's softest setting.
I would like to be 1-2" closer to the ground but am willing to comprimise because this bike is so great. I can get the balls of both feet to the ground or get one foot down fully at stop lights.

| | Koubalink makes links for the rear that lower it 1". Lower the front forks by loosening the clamps that way the geometry of the bike stays good. Dont lower front forks more than 3/4" Lower it more than that and the fender will hit if you bottom out. |

| | Don't fear!! I'm 5'6.5" and don't have a problem at all. I picked up my '06 650 on June 13. I got the low touring seat, center stand, and hand covers with the bike. I was a bit nervous the first time I got on, but the balance was awesome. As soon as the bike started to move it felt like it "locked" into an upright position and stayed there. When I stopped both my feet were able to reach the ground and I felt real secure even though only the balls of my feet were on the road the balance was sufficient to allow me to stand there confidently. Re-starting was the same. As soon as the bike started to go it "locked" upright again. The size seems a little intimidating at first but the balance and light weight of the bike will win you over no sweat. |

| Yes. I'm 5'5 and lowered the rear height with KoubaLink lowering links, and I have no problem riding this baby anymore. However, remember that you also have to lower the front forks in the same amount.
