I am very much interested in buying a DL1000, but have not been able to find any road tests or real reviews.
If anybody has bought one, Iwould appreciate some feed back.

Go to this website
http://www.micapeak.com/reg/bikes/
There are 4 reviews and two guys have comments. One is coming from an Interceptor and the other guy is coming off a Goldwing. I really want one of these bikes also but I want to see this in review with the Aprilia.

In addition to the brief reviews in Motorcyclist and the British Bike magazine you will find an online review on a South African website. If you do a search you will find the site

You'll find a comprehensive review in this month's Rider magazine (May issue).

The grey DL1000 seems to clash with all the beautiful stainless steel shields and pipes. That's why I bought the blue one. The real joy starts with the first test drive. You'll need at least a 32 inch inseam though, it's quite tall. I really enjoy the standard seating position. The handling is fantastic, quite nimble. Make sure you have a firm grip when you roll the throttle up! I'm waiting for Zero Gravity to release their Sport Touring Windshield which should add an additional three inches of wind protection. You can tuck in nicely though for protection. If you decide to take your honey along, you'll find the passenger foot pegs and seat are quite comfy, almost like a Corbin. Givi is supposed to making hard luggage as well.

The German magazine "Motorrad", in their 3/28/02 issue, ran a comparison between Aprilia ETV 1000 Caponord, BMW R1150 GS, Honda Varadero 1000, Suzuki DL 1000 V-Strom, and Triumph Tiger.
Their testing is very detailed, and scoring is on a 1000 point scale. The scores, in descending order were: BMW-672; Suzuki-666; Honda-663; Triumph-634;Aprilia-619. By the way - BMW got 20 points for having ABS brakes.

Buy the bike already, before they sell out. This is an awesome bike. You will love it. I have owned my bike for 3 weeks and have put 3000 miles on it. the only bad miles were the slow break in miles. I never thought a street bike could be as comfortable and exciting as my dirtbike. This bike does it for me and I'm sure it will for you.
