| i just bought a 1984 R65 with 23k.The bike has been dying out when i shift from 2nd gear to 1rs gear.Have any ideas? Also the bike dosen't idle, i have to keep the throttle up a few rpm's otherwise it will die out.

| I also have a 1984 R65. When warm it idles fine. Have you cleaned the carbs and had them adjusted? At 22 years old it is possible that the rubber diaphram has a hole, the idle jets could be clogged, there could be an air leak at the cover to the "enrichment" (choke) jets.
there could also be an ignition problem at low RPM - have you changed the spark plugs and checked the gap? Is the timing correct?
