My wife has a 2001 Kawasaki Eliminator 125.
She is 5'3" and tips the scales at a whopping 82lbs. This bike is ideal for her, and I'm thinking the only bike on the market that wouldn't be to heavy for her to handle. The bike is like new, and we had a custom paint job put on it, and are in the process of dressing it up a bit. My question is this. The bike pulls her up to speed just fine, but has a top speed of 68 which keeps her off of the interstate where most of us pack up and ride. Is there anyway to upgrade the engine, so that it will have enough power that I can get a higher geared sprocket set to get her up to highway speed?

Unfortunately, nothing that I'm avare of. Trying to gear it up only slows it down, because it doesn't have enough power to pull a higher gear. As far as I know of, nobody makes performance parts for this bike, it's pretty well maxed out from the factory. It's just not a freeway bike. I got mine for riding to work, and to enjoy the feeling of riding a small bike, around town, and on country roads. It will cruise at 55 mph, and I have ridden mine on the freeway at that speed. The best thing I can think of is a Honda Rebel. It feels just as small, and has twice the displacement, so it has no problems on the freeway. You can also get lots of accessories for it.

There's nothing you can do. The motor just doesn't have the torque to pull a larger gear ration. I've got 11,000 miles on mine and love riding around sub 50 mph. This bike is fun and sometimes big bikes are just too much of a pain. I'd recommend to her either the Suzuki 650 (S40) at 350 pounds or the Suzuki 250cc at something like 304. There's also the Yamaha Virago.

talk to the shop about having the head milled to jump compression if the lower end will take it or look at the 500 vulcan.
