I just turned 18 and over the last 2 years ive fell in love with the rs 250. All my friends are buying their first cars, but not me all i want is a 250. I was thinking, all you guys with 250's is it very expensine to maintain and could you give me a picture or just an outline of how expensive it is? Thanks.

I owned one a few years ago (great bike!)but maintenance is more expensive and required more often than a 4 stroke. My 600rr needs a logbook service every 6000kms and costs me just under $200aus from a reputable mechanic. The rs250 cost me just under $400 for a service and had to be done every 4000kms. Tyre and chain wear are similar on these bikes. The other thing to take note is that I have been told that the motor needs a basic rebuild between 30 and 40 thousand k's dut i upgraded mine to the 600 when it was at 18,000 k's.

I own a 96 rs250, its a great bike but doesnt rele like sitting in traffic but on anything else its a dream! It is the most expensive bike that i have ever owned, needs a top end rebuild every 10,000 miles (16,000km)and a full rebuild every 30,000 miles. Fuel consumption is about 25mpg plus you have to buy the top 2 stroke oil on top of that. If you dont have alot of money to spare then its not the bike for you. If youve got the money then get! big grin factor
