The Maxim is Yamaha's answer to a chopper, with an upright seating position and slightly wider 16 inch rear tire. The Seca is more of a road racer style with a slight forward leaning position, more rearward foot peg location, lower bars and an 18 inch rear tire.

the 550 seca was the first sport set up 500 class bike for the US. Kenny Roberts Won all his 500 class races on the 550 Seca. Classy well balanced Bike sold in the US in Red on white in 81' witha chrome fender many converted to the Canadian RD 400 Front fender dur to the matching paint. The Maxim was a Light Cruiser with rake back bars and saddel seat and a fatbob Tank
and a slightly extended fork rake. maroon silver and Black I beleive were the stock colors
