I'm thinking about trading in my 2002 spirit 750 for this bike. I loved my first, but i already feel like i'm growing out of it. i'll probably look for a used '98-'01, but any general adivce impressions? Is this truly the excellent all-arounder it seems to be?
thanks

Dude,
The Interceptor, IMO, is a terrific all around bike. I own a 2002 model and naturally, everyone who sees it thinks it's a straight up street back, which it definitely looks like. However, it offers a great range of power and is a comfortable ride, especially in comparison to some of the more sport oriented bikes. If you're looking for a hybrid between a sport bike and a tourer, that offers great comfort, this bike is for you. The engine offers a nice range and additional power above 7000rpm that you truly feel. I would say the bike is about 90% sport, 10% touring. Definitely worth the money. I'll most likely trade this one in for another. By the way, the ABS system is awesome!

got to ride a 98 vfr800 for about 1.5k miles, it is a very very nice bike. it only leaves some to be desired in that its a little too heavy (by sportbike standards) but many could care less and want the lbs. another thing is if u want to go super fast, it will run out of legs around 130mph. i think top speed is around 145. but u will notice she starts to drop off round 130.
1000cc V4 would be absolutley heaven, plus drop bout 30 more lbs. im prolly gonna try more differnt bikes but i bet after its all said and done, it will wind up being the vfr or the blackbird to be best streetbike to own. there will be no comparison between ur spirit and this bike. 2 totally different worlds. just remeber its still a 100hp machine and the motor rips past about 7k. dont go nuts with the throttle for a few days on the vfr and ull be in good shape. good luck.

Concur with all said here. I own a '00 VFR, my second bike and its lived up to everything I've ever read about them. A fantastic all around bike. Granted I'm not out scraping pegs every weekend but I've done short rides, long rides, commute to work and this bike does it all. Yes it's a bit heavy and not quite as sharp as a full-on race replica... but you can ride this one more than 150 miles before needing a chiropractor. I hear the '03 has only gotten better, especially in the suspension tuning department.

Spirit is a nice looking bike, but only 45hp gets old pretty quick. I have an '01 VFR and love it. I think the '02/'03 handles better, but Honda doesn't quite have all the bugs out of the engine yet. If I were you I'd go with the '98~'01, the used prices have really come down lately.
