| Many people have tried to do this with no success. Some have tried cutting 10 inches off the end of the stock pipes or buying aftermarket pipes. All they succeed in doing is creating a sound like a sick chainsaw or a loud lawnmower. If you are looking for a sound like a harley or larger bike, you will have to go buy one. The original pipes are extremely expensive so I would recommend that you not modify them.

| No doubt. My then wife had an 85 and we found a set of taper-tip staggered dual pipes for it that made it sound like a Pinto with no muffler. The Rebel has a perfectly even firing pattern which makes it sound like a fart with loud pipes. V-Twins fire unevenly, therefore the cool sound.
Love your stock pipes, we did.

| Do not mess with the pipes. Every single person I who has tells me horror stories. Even after markets make this this sound horrible. This is affordable transportation that looks cool. If you want a real bike (no offense) you need to start with a Shadow ACE 750 and move up from there. The engine and exhaust on the Rebel just cant handle what you are trying to do and you WILL mess up your bike. Sorry, but my vote is that you just leave it alone. However, if you want to draw attention, chrome is always a step in the right direction for any size bike.
