I am looking to purchase my first off-road bike for trail use only (I have owned numerous street bikes). I am 6’ tall and weigh 185 lbs. Can anyone help me with how large a bike I will need to be comfortable? I will be using the bike to ride with my son who is just learning. Power and speed are not a big concern but being too cramped on the bike is. Please help…

They have the bike you need pictured with your question. I'm 41yo, 6', 200lbs, and the Kawasaki KDX 200/220 is one of the finest dirt/trail bikes I've ever owned (raced as a teenager, ride a BMW K1200 for street now). Especially for us Dads, balanced in Heaven, incredible power and acceleration right out of the dealer (leave all the hopping up to the kids!), and a pleasure/easy to maintain. In fact, I suffer from multiple sclerosis and still ride mine every chance I get. Bought mine to ride with my two sons as well. KDX has all the advantages of a superior dirt bike without the disadvantages of a ho-hum trail bike. I feel like I'm eighteen again everytime I ride it. Very forgiving bike as well! If you're my age, you know what I mean. Can't go wrong with the KDX, best of luck. P

You can buy things to make a bike more comfortable for you if you're too tall for it. Such as higher handle bars. I have a KLX400R and standing was very cramped with the stock handle bars. I bought CR high bends it made a world of difference (i'm 5'10"). If you are looking at the KDX, I was just recently riding with a couple of guys both over 6' tall both on KDXs. I don't remember if they were 200s or 220s.
