I have some minor experience on dirt-bikes, but none on the road. I'm 21 and looking to get my first road bike in the fall. After a great deal of research, this bike is my top choice. I'm posting to ask opinions on the CityX as a first bike choice. What should I be aware of, if anything, when choosing this as my first motorcycle? Thanks, Daniel

Daniel,
Make sure that you take a Star course or a program that is similar to it. Dirt riding and street riding are worlds apart. Factor in trafic, 16 year old drivers, poor road conditions ect... I've ridden a XB9SX and think it could be newbie friendly IF you keep a cool head. You being 21 and also having a dirt bike background should understand how to respect the bike. Remember that if you don't respect the bike it will not respect you. Hope this helps.

I just purchased a CityX this month and have put about 800 miles on it already. I can tell you that the bike would be suitable to a new rider if, as the previous respondent mentioned, you respect the machine. The XB9SX has an incredible amount of low end torque and, if your not careful, can buck you off the back of the bike. If you buy a new CityX, the dealer will tell you to take it easy for the first 500 or so miles during initial break-in. This is a good opportunity to become familiar with the bike's intricacies.

I know of one fellow who has one, and he loves it, but be aware that the insurance will be ASTRONOMICAL if you do it under your name.
