I'm looking into getting my first bike. I'm 6' and like 240 lbs. Would this be a good bike to learn on if I take it pretty easy for the first couple months? I was also looking at the xb9r but was concerned that it wouldn't be enough power and I would get bored with. Would that be the case?

These are NOT the right bike to get for your first bike. Especially the XB12R has eye-popping power and if you buy one to learn on you're asking to spend the next few years in traction. A much better beginner bike would be a Kawasaki 500R or Suzuki SV650S... yes they have less power, but in order to develop your riding skills to the point where you CAN lean over and drag your knee you've really gotta start small. I've been riding aggressively for a while now on my 500R and I feel that by the time I'm able to afford an XB12R, I'll be ready to ride it... don't underestimate how much you will learn from a smaller (and cheaper!) bike.
