| I HAVE THIS KNOCKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE UNTIL IT WARMS UP,I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER BUT THEY SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AFTER CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER.I NOW HAVE 3800 MILES ON IT AND IT SEEMS TO BE LOUDER &TAKES LONGER BEFORE IT SUBSIDES.MAYBE SOMEONE CAN GIVE SOME HEADS UP ABOUT THIS.I WAS TOLD ALL THE MEANSTREAKS DO THIS.I AM ABOUT READY TO TRADE IT IN ON SOMETHING ELSE,BUT I REALLY LIKE THE BIKE!

| Hi Paul :
I have a 2001 Vulcan Nomad 1500 FI with 9550 miles and i also have engine knock when cold worse than warm.. Haven't had a chance to get into the dealer for this . Figure that there is no warranty left i just ride it until it gets really bad then do something about it.. I would on the other hand like to know what is the cause of the noise ,piston slap / wrist pin or maybe rod bearings.. Let me know if you get this email and have other input to our problems.

| | I bought a used VN1500 and took it to a Kawasaki dealer who said the knock is normal and there is nothing to adjust or worry about. I bought a Vance & Hine Pro pipe and now I don't hear the knock just the low thunder of the motor....I highly recommend a new exhaust. |
