I have read the answers to the guy deciding between a HD and Suzuki. I tend to disagree on the resale value staying high on the Harleys. I am looking for a bike now (will consider all makes) and I am seeing more Harleys for sale than any other in the used market and most are asking less than NADA book value. It appears that all bikes lose a considerable amount of value once taken off the showroom.
But hey, I did take the motorcycle rider course before I started looking even though I did have riding experience. I also learned that a Cruiser is not comfortable, for me at least

I paid around $8000.00 for my 2000 H-D 883C in 2000. i recently listed it for sale as stock (no upgrades/accessories)on biglots, cycle-trader and usa-motosellers dot coms. think its still listed on biglots and motoseller if you interested in looking at it. i received offers from $5800.00 up to $7600.00. both low and high offers were ligit by anxious buyers. they hold a good re-sale value if you in the right market and/or have the time to wait for the right buyer. mine took about two months for the high bid to come in. low bid almost immediately. long story why i never sold it but fell in love with it again and put 700.00 into it in stage-one+. wow what a difference. secondly i will say my 883c is not very comfortable for long hauls.

Wow, don't know where you are looking. Anything around here in Wisconsin is darn close to orig. msrp. a few years later. the only thing that you will lose for money on an hd is any accessories you might put on it, but you will get back what you paid for the bike for up to 3-5 years

I am putting an order in for a new Harley right now. It really depends on where you are. The dealer i am ordering from has a used 2002 883c that i love that is bone stock and is $9500. The brand new 2003 with freight ir $8075. Another dealer close to me is selling new and used Harleys $4000 ABOVE msrp and is selling them like hotcakes!!! A lot of people dont' feel like waiting 9 months for a new bike and jsut spend the mark up on what they can get right now.
