| recently received an '81 650sh as a gift. installed a new battery but when 1 turn on key none of the lights come on(neutral, head lamp, brake lamp, etc.) bike has been sitting for ten years with no battery on it. all wiring looks good but cannot get voltage into and out of main switch. help if you can. thanks

| | Check the fuse. It's right above the starter solenoid on the right side , under the cover. Look for the red wire coming from the same terminal on the solenoid as the main power lead from the battery. It's an inline fuse in a strange little doohickey, usually with a plastic cover over it. If that does not work, check the ground wire from the battery to the engine/frame. Corrosion on terminals is common after so many years. Good luck. |
