| how does the vfr compare to a cbr600f4i in acceleration and power? How about compared to an open class bike? I definitely don't want to lose the sporty feel in my next choice of bike, but the comfort and versatility of the vfr is attractive.

| For maximum acceleration and handling the 600 is better. The VFR is heavier than the 600's and open class bikes and has the peak horsepower of a 600. It does have a much broader powerband than a 600 with about 10 ft/lb. more torque.

| I personally own a VFR and have had the pleasure of riding the lastest F4 as well! I have read most all motorcycle mags since the acceleration of the two bikes in the city are too close to determine just by riding. Anyway, it seems most respect magazines have the VFR being faster in the 0-100mph range due to its larger torque output down low. However from about the high 3rd or low 4th gear the F4 begins moving faster. However, lets be clear, it does not pull away as strong as you may think (like say a GSX-R 1000, or a R1).
I have riden both bikes and absolutely love the fact I can literally fly down the highway, still have sportbike like handling, and feel a great degree of confidence doing it! The F4 can't quite say that dispite a slightly higher quarter mile times. Again, in day to day city driving, a rider of equal talent will not walk away from this bike. Finally, I can't tell you how many complements and admiring stares this bike gets. Don't worry about the power, its more than you think

| | I've ridden a CBR F4i, and I own a VFR800 and an R1. I have to tell you that it really depends on YOU! The VFR handles wonderfully and rides great, it's roomy and beautiful. If you want VERY fast then there is no replacement for an open class bike, they are sooo fast! The F4i is comfy too and just a bit faster and easier to ride in tight stuff than a VFR. So here's the breakdown: You want fast and comfort is low on your list = Open Class bike; You want comfy (and fast enough for MOST) = VFR; You want mostly comfy and fast enough (faster than a VFR) = F4i...... Hope this helps I love Both my R1 and VFR (and I'd buy an F4i TOO if I could afford it!!) |
