I was told that it was primarily a safety issue by a sales rep at a Honda dealer. I also was interested in the blue, but the rep said that red is a more "visible" color. I'm not real sure I buy that answer though. It seemed like he just wanted to sell me the red one. I will say this, the red in person is actually a stunning color. Looks much better in person than in pictures. And who knows, there may be something to the safety issue. I had a gray color CBR1100xx and it did seem like it blended in more to the background. No problem with that on a bright red bike though. Ride safe

You can get blue, black, silver and red in Canada! I got the red (only choice) and now I really love it....looks faster!!!

You can always get a custom paint job. But they are expensive although there might not be any in your area. You could ship it to a place that paints. Anyhow unless you know someone who does custom painting its going to be expensive. Then again custom blue paint on good flairing might just be worth it.

Not sure about the red only in USA, however, if you go to Canada you can not only buy in blue, black, & red, but you can save more than $2000 USD. I'm speaking from experience. 2) I've seen all the colors and Red is definately the best. Bought one myself w/abs including duty etc for $9000

I saw a blue one imported from Canada.
Not sure what year it was though. Looked alot like the new Katana 600 Blue.

The only way to get blue is to import or buy new body part from Canada after you have a red one and chnage them.
If you like silver, we'll get that additional choice for '03.
VFRs have mostly been offered in red in the states since the late 80's
