| | Hey is there anyway to reduce the gas usage of this model of yamaha virago 250? Because somehow it is burning up 50mpg city miles. I thought this 250 suppose to only burn 60 or 70mpg city. |

| Accellerate slowly, shift early (I can't do it). Change front sprocket from 16 tooth to 17 tooth, replace 45 tooth rear sprocket with 38 tooth and enjoy 20 % increase in fuel economy and top speed.

| Do you have to replace the chain going from the stock configuration to 38T rear/17T front sprockets? Just ordered these from bikebandit and wanted to make sure I wouldn't need a new chain. Bike only has 800 miles on it, and is 4 months old. TIA

| Hello Dean:
Earlier you posted the following:

I am thinking of trying the 17/38 sprocket combination on my V Star 250 (Virago 250). Does your Virago-250 accellerate ok in 1st gear? Is there any clutch slippage with the 17/38 sprockets?
