| | It has been a while since doning the street scene with a bike (mostly dirts and quads the last few years) But I'm thinking of getting back into it with these new Buells they look like they would be a blast. But now I'm TORN between the m2 cyclone (grey and orange) and the new xb8r which would be the better choice for both long and short rides......can you say road trip! Any help would be great |

| | I would lean towards the M2. I own a XB9R. This bike is best suited for serious fun on the tight and twisty roads, period. |

| | before you make this choice, you need to sit on both bikes, I am 6'2" and I find the xb8r to be alittle small and your sitting position is more forward than I would like , it would be a great bike for the short trip and carving a road with lots of turns, because of the light weight and short wheel base. The m2 , I would be the bike you should think about for the long trip. The wheel base is alittle longer and you don't fill like you are riding over the front wheel like you do on the XB8R. In the looks dept. the XB8R has got in by a long shot, and for canyon carving the XB8R IS it. But the m2 is the one. |

| I had the same question as you about 8 months ago. I rode both and I chose the gray & orange Cyclone! The Cyclone was much more comfortable and it has more torque. My hands starting hurting while riding the firebolt and the brakes did not work as well, maybe they needed adjusting. Although both bikes have their good and bad points,I think the Cyclone was a better bike, plus it looks much better. Go test ride both!

| | I've owned a Firebolt since it first came out in May. I love this bike. It's great on the backroads of Washington State, but a bit of a pain on long freeway drones. If I didn't already own a Harley Roadking a would have waited for the new Lightning XB9S. It is a much better all around bike than the Firebolt. I've had the chance to put about 150 miles on one and loved it. It combines the sportiness of the Firebolt with the more comfortable riding position that you would need for any serious traveling. With the new finance deal that Buell has going on until November 30th, you can't lose. Good Luck |

| I own a cyclone and a new xb9r.The XB is a superb twisty backroad demon. The M2 is a wonderful Hooligan bike. The 1200's definately have more torque and that translates into alot of fun on the seat-of-the-pants-ometer. The big difference is the riding postion. The M2 is more forward seat, lower pegs, and lower and forward handlebars. The ergos of the M2 make it more comfortable and way easier to throw into corners at slower speeds. But the XB has infinite cornering clearance. If I didnt own a cyclone already I would have bought that first. Or a XB9S.
