sure you can simply look under the seat where the passenger rides and there are a thumb screw on either side, a quarter works good, and remove the seat cowl and your ready to go!

Yes you can, but it's not very comfortable for the passenger if you go more than 100 miles. You can get aftermarket seat (Sargeant or Corbin), but it will not make it into Gold Wing.
This is bike oriented more for canyon riding and short to medium distance trips.
I did ride from CA to CO in two days without problems, but that was solo and packed light.
