| I've got a '98 VT1100C with Hard Krome pipes on it, K&N filter, and have had nothing but troubles trying to get it jetted properly. Any input would definitely be welcome and appreciated. Here's what I've tried so far:
1) Installed DynoJet 175 jets, along with the new needles in the kit and turned mixture screws out 2.5 turns as directed by DJ installation instructions. Bike ran fine, no backfires, but lost a LOT of power/torque.
2) Removed DJ needles, and (accidentally) replaced one of the 175 jets with a factory jet. Got lots of power and torque back, but had problems when bike was cool, or cruising at low speed...a lot of sputtering. When cold, I almost needed to choke it to get it to run right, but once warm it was much better.
3) Thinking the factory jet/needle combo was what was working best, I took out the last DJ175 and replaced with OE jet. Cannot get it to run right...again!
So, before I take it apart again, I'd love some input from anyone that may have a recommendation or two.
-Do I go with the DJ needles and factory jets?
-Do I go with factory needles and DJ jets? My jet kit has everything from 160 up to 180.
-Do I give up on the whole thing and put the factory pipes back on, scrap the K&N and just accept the bike as it was with all OE?
Help! Please! |

| Update: Put DynoJet needles back in and upped the main jets to the .180's...the biggest option available in the jetting kit. Running much better, but now when I reach the top end of the tach it's starts cutting out on me. Too much fuel? I've tried tinkering with the a/f mixture but to no avail. Any suggestions? Feels like I'm soooo close, yet so far away....
Any help is much appreciated.

| i had the same problem last sunday. clean your petcock screen and change your fuel filter. the problem is the carb bowls are trying to empty before the tank can refill them. if you still have problems, use the 175 jet front cylinder and 180 rear clylinder. the rear is oil cooled and runs richer. check your tank for internal rust.
trust me on this! i asked alot of questions too alot of people to get it right. mine runs scary fast now, but each bike is different.
good luck. PS the filter is down by where the swingarm meets the frame
