Hi all

After purchasing the bike (Kawasaki Vulcan VN 750-A3 American Export (1987)) I didn't think the engine ran very sweetly. There was quite a lot of back-firing but appeared to have plenty of power and would run rather irratically at tick-over.

Later, it became more difficult to start. I obtained another CDi unit but this did not solve the problem. Then, I found that the rear cylinder was not receiving a spark, so purchased an ignition coil for the rear cylinder, but still did not solve the problem. I purchased a new battery which improved the starting but I am now at bit of a loss as to what the problem is.....

I would appreciate if anyone could help me diagnose the problem or any suggestions you may have?

Thank you, Rod
