I have the same problem with mine. Yamaha says it is not a problem with this machine but I had three service techs tell me different. This happens because the unit gets to hot under the seat and around the gas tank. It is a design flaw that Yamaha had to recognize because they totally redesgned the 2009 moving the gas tank under the seat and away from the motor. In mine the gas heats up, vapor locks and overflows the carb and cuts off.
