What is the difference between the Rebel(2008) and the Nighthawk(2008)? I'm a newbie looking for a bike. I'm 5'11''. I was reading the specs on the honda website and the only difference I saw was the ignition( CD / CDI ???)

The worst part is the nighthawk is MSRP'ed @ 3600 while the rebel is 3100....There has to be a difference?

there is a "Compare 2 Vehicles" portion of this very website that shows that basically, the Rebel is more cruiser style, with longer wheelbase, lower seat height, likely (slightly) more stable at speed, but with (slightly) less responsive handling, and the Nighthawk is more standard style with a little higher seat, shorter wheelbase and likely to have more responsive handling. Also, the Rebel has a disc brake in front, the Nighthawk has a drum brake in front. I don't know how much of a difference this would make on a smaller bike. they appear to have the same engine, except the rebel's is described as a parallel twin, and the nighthawk's as a vertical twin (?). I'd bet they perform the same.

I'd say the biggest difference would be the seating position/comfort/preferred style. sit on both and see if the position is worth the extra green. it might be.
