I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with you.... 1/4 mile speeds aren't worth squat to guys who ride cruisers: they just aren't that relevant. If I remember correctly, my V* 1100 was quicker in the 1/4 mile than the R*. So what? I still got rid of it 'cause at 80 mph it was buzzing at 4,000 rpms, while the Roadstar at that speed coasts along at about 2,500 rpms. Those of us who buy 1500+cc v-twins are looking for sufficient low-end torque and cruising speed comfort. Now you're free to believe that your 1300 is as comfortable at 80 mph as my 1500 or the 1600 Nomad but I'd be willing to bet that the wife of the guy who started this thread would much prefer spending the day on the back a bike cruising at 2,800 or 2,900 rpms than one cruising at 3,400 rpms. And rpms at 80 mph is what it's all about.

Which is what test riding is for. Or listening to the advice of riders who've experienced riding a particular bike or bikes, and can speak to how they ride. If you feel vibration is the reason a 1300 is too small (which is a totally worthwhile consideration), say that instead of a vague, blanket statement.

Furthermore, if you take the time to read any of Morg's posts, you'll see he's probably the least moronic participant on this forum.

As to the original mileage question, if you can't find it anywhere else, ask the dealers. Granted, the number they will give you will be the manufacturer's inflated number obtained by testing on a treadmill, and higher than what you'll really get, but you can at least compare those from bike to bike, with some confidence.

i have a 05 vulcan 1500, with 15000 miles of worry free riding. only mofications to bike was the addition of vance hines exhaust which i ended up installing their quiet baffles to get my sound i wanted. strong rumble of power that i enjoy rumbling in my ear. my bike avg. 52-55 mpg with 2 riders, bags, windshield. we live in mtn of sw va. so it is not all flat smooth. but ride right, maintain right and enjoy right.

You guys are forgetting the metric cruisers of the past. My 1980 CB900c does a 1/4 mile in 11.9 and with the rubber mounted inline four even running at 7k rpm I can feel my cell vibrate in my pocket. And so you know I'm objective, the tank is smaller than I would like limiting range. I took it from Florida to NC in a day solo and while it has plenty of power for two, it is not comfortable with a passenger. Lacks in the low end torque department also. And to keep it running you need two extra engines and a shed full of spare parts like I do.

Oh yeah, the v65 magnas could blow away any of the bikes in that list while giving up over 200cc's
