I have to know this, because a Polaris dealer told me
that all the smaller 08 400cc and under including the previous
hawkeye and childs atv were chinese built.
I wont mention the dealers name, out of respect but I want
to know if this is a fact or not.
Have any of you heard such a thing?

I know for a fact that the 50cc & 90cc Polaris ATV's are Taiwanese / Asian made. The larger ones are made in Canada and they all have Fuji engines in them.

While I can't speak to the smaller youth ATVs in the polaris line, and I do know that the Sawtooth and Phoenix are manufactured "for" Polaris in the orient, the '06-'07 Hawkeye and '08 Sportsman 300/400 are all manufactured and assembled here in the US!
Frame assemblies, subassemblies, plastics, and engine, (original Polaris design), are manufacturered at the Osceola, Wisconsin fabricating plant and then Assembled in the Roseau, Minnesota assembly plant...if I'm not mistaken the first year '06 Hawkeyes were assembled at the Spirit Lake Assembly Plant, (plant "B" in the VIN number), ATV assembly was moved to Roseau and Victory motorcycles took over the Spirit Lake plant.

Though I can't confirm this I have been told that originally the "Hawkeye" name plate came from the Iowa nickname "the Hawkeye state"
