[size=1][font=Verdana][size=1][I just traded my gorgeous 2007 Majesty for an equally good looking 650 Burgman....Metallic Charcoal. Here's why. I've been a big bike rider (1000 cc sport touring) for over 25 yrs., but age has taken its toll and knee pain has forced me to get a step-thru. I now wish I had done so 5 years ago. The Burgman has all the pluses of a medium sport tourer with additional practical use for in town errand use. So I am a confirmed full time Scooterist now. I purchased the Majesty even tho I thought I needed the power and size of the 650 Burg. The cost difference convinced me to try the Majesty. At first I was pleased as punch with my new scoot. Seemed to have enuf power and size and made that cute putt putt sound at idle from the big single piston. As I rode more I gradually realized that 1. the Majesty was just a bit underpowered for me. 2. The comfort level rapidly diminished the longer I sat in the saddle. Even at full seat back I felt cramped and my rt knee and leg started to hurt. The floorboard was a bit too narrow for my feet and I couldn't extend my legs enough for comfort even though my inseam is only 29. There was alot of slush at take off before the belt would grab hold and go...I could barely keep up with cars at takeoff though I could easily out accelerate most once I got going. The revving up at start up reminded me of how a moped sounds when taking off. There was a noticeable vibration at low rpm also but not a real problem....Just too small and not enuf power...too bad for me. Luckily, a local dealer advertised a 650 burg on the net for an astounding OTD price of $6999. I was on the phone as soon as I saw it. I am now the proud owner of my dream scooter and possibly the last 2 wheeler I will ever need...(don't bet on that!) Immediatly, I realized I had made the right decision the second time around. I zoomed out of the dealer lot in full comfort and with what seemd like warp-power compared to the Majesty. The two biggest immediate differences are the seating position and the take off speed. Though the platforms are close in size, there is enuf more room on the burg to sit back far enuf to stretch out my legs and the floorboards are wider and allow even more extension of my feet forward and up on the front of the faring. The transmission seems totally different and grabs hold almost like a shaft drive - does not feel slushy at all. The engine is incredibly smooth and quiet. Lot of power (54 horses). The only feature I liked better on the Majesty was the parking brake...more accessible. The grab rails on the burg. are more useable for tie downs and the under seat light is switchable unlike the always on when open lite of the yamaha...can you say dead battery trap??? Did I also mention the wheels are an inch bigger and make a big difference in feel. Much more motorcycle feel. Suspension is also better damped. The yamaha was so stiff It really hurt to hit a bump. I hope I have saved a few people from making the costly mistake I made. The Majesty is a great scooter, but for some folks...especially bigger folks, the Burgman is the Nuts as they saw in Poker!!! Ps, the rear view mirrors are great on the burgman. Had to buy extensions for the Majesty to be able to see anything behind me.
