Well, I bought this ski brand new in 2000. I rode it for about 6 months and sucked up an ice bag, loaded it up as soon as it happened. Took the ski to the shop to get it removed, and got it back and thought everything was fine. I rode every weekend, during the spring and summer, for almost 5 years. I tried to start it up this year and had a lot of problems getting it started, but it did start and ran fine (or what I thought was fine). I let it sit over night one weekend in the water and had more issues getting it started. So, I decided to take it to a buddies house for him to clean the carbs (never been done). He checks the compression and found out I was running 90 in cyclinder 1, 105 in cyclinder 2, and 120 in cyclinder 3. We took the heads off and found out that piston 1 was almost completely melted, piston 2 was 60% gone, and piston 3 no visable damage. We replaced all 3 piston heads and rings (think all this was caused from motor overheating many years ago). While replacing piston heads we noticed that the power valves were either badly damaged, not in their correct place, or just plane ole completely missing. And also found out that the cat was severly damaged on the inside. So, we are now ordering new power valves and will be removing the insides of the cat. HOPEFULLY that will take care of everything on this ski.
