RXP isn't the best for reliablity.

With all manufacturers and models, you could end up with a gem or an absolute LEMON!

I can only speak from personal happenings and what I've come to see over the past few years since the RXP was introduced.

I bought a 2005 RXP at the end of 2004. With only 9hrs the Super Charger blew up. Of course it was warrantied, but it still caused for me to spend my Veterans day weekend atop my 2003 Yamaha GP1300R.

At that time (Nov 2004) I asked the service manager if they've had many problems with the RXP's. He said that at least 80% of the one's they sold had come back with some type of issue, 50% of those being blown Super Chargers.

Then around 45hrs, the Super charger blew again. This time it wasn't warrantied becuase I only bought the 2 year warranty. BIG MISTAKE!! I would have spend $400 more at time of purchase, instead I spent $1600 to have the Super Charger rebuilt a second time.
Since then the manager has told me that the later 2005 RXP's as well as the '06 and '07 have seen many reliabilty improvements. But just like any machine with a super charger, it will blow up eventually. He said a little less than half of the RXP's and RXT's that they sell come back with problems WITHIN the first 15hrs of use.

Many Sea-Doo fanboy's have told me that I didn't take care of the SC properly. Of course this is just idiocy, as I have done everything the dealer and owners manual says to plus some. Besides, any brand new machine should last more than 9hrs w/o ever being touched.

I'm definately not brand loyal. But I have owned dozens of PWC's over years, and I honestly have never taken any of my 6 Yamaha's for a repair.
I had two Kawasaki's, one had a couple of minor issues, and the other never spent a minute in a mechanic shop.

Anyway, you'll probably enjoy the RXP. But just be prepared (not that you'll definately have a problem) but just be prepared to deal with at least minor if not major issues.

As far as performance goes.. The RXP is about 1.5-2mph faster top speed, and about 1second faster 0-60 from a stop...
This is because the RXP ways nearly 800lbs, where as the GP1300R is about 650lbs.

For me, the 1300R is much more fun ride becuase it's more nimble and you can anticipate it. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've been thrown off the RXP from just random porposing and sloppy hull characteristics. I'm talking glass flat water and it will just yank itself to one side or the other.

I paid $8700 for my 2005 GP1300R, and put a $1100 Riva stage 1 kit on it. It runs 72mph on GPS and radar gun and is quicker than my RXP.

The RXP was $10,700, and it's still stock. People will argue that a stage 1 Riva kit on an RXP will walk away from a stage 1 Gp1300R, but when you do the math it's easy to see which is a better bang for the buck.

If you buy an RXP, good luck.
