I cannot get my starter to turn the engine over, no obvious engine issues, I removed the jet pump so at to have nothing attached but the engine, same problem, I connected 12 volts directly to the starter leads, no action.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE STARTER WITHOUT REMOVAL OF THE ENTIRE ENGINE.

I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR HELP WITH THIS.
THANK YOU

YOU MUST REMOVE THE ENTIRE ENGINE FROM YOUR HULL.
YES, WHAT A TERRIBLE INSANE DESIGN, AND NOT ONY THAT, BUT THE STARTER SHAFT TURNS A GEAR THAT HAS A ELECTRIC CLUTCH THAT ACTS AS A BENDIX FOR STARTING THE MOTOR, WHAT A GISMO, I WILL BE MUCH MORE TECHNICAL OBSERVANT BEFORE I BUY ANOTHER YAMAHA OR ANY OTHER PWC.
