How's the Bandit on long trips? I'm looking for a second bike that is sporty but can still be comfortable for 4-5 hour trips. I don't want to go as big as the ST 1300, Concours 14, or the FJR 1300, if I can avoid it. Those all seem like very nice bikes, but I'm a sport rider at heart and want something fairly light and nimble. In other words, I want a sporty bike that's comfortable, not a comfortable bike with sporty tendencies.

I have 2002 1200 Bandit in April of this year I went with a few other people to Big Bend in Texas from Oklahoma City. We did about 400 miles each of the first 2 days and I did not do any worse than the Gold Wing riders I was with. I have added a Corbin seat which helps, I do weigh around 240 and stand 5'11''. Hope this helps and is not too late.

Yes, it does help. I'm pretty close to you size wise, 6', 230. I know the bike has been remade but I'm also considering a used one. Is there much vibration to the bike at any particular rpm, and how do the shoulders and wrists feel specifically? It sounds like its pretty good overall if 400 mile days were good.

Thanks

I have not ridden the new 1250 yet, probably shouldn't since I can't afford one now. I got my 1200 a year ago from a man about my same age. I think I got a good deal since it had less than 3600 miles and he gave me two good helmets and a set of soft bags for it. I think it is ready for tune up and a carb sync, it is vibrating just a little. I believe if you look and with cooler weather coming a good used Bandit should be out there.
