I live all backroads, and ive never rode a bike before. im 6' 0" 185lbs i hear this bike is heavy, is it too heavy? and is it a good bike for the backroads. i dont need speed, but an alt. bike would have to look nice, i want sporty looking bike, the main difference i see in bikes is around the front wheel, if its covered mostly or not, and it looks sportier. i love the way his bike looks and the price range is good.
is this the bike to get?

It may be a little heavy for a sporty bike, but you wouldn't notice until you've ridden a race replica. Katana 600 was the first bike I ever owned, and its not too much for a beginner, but it's close. A 500 cc may be better. As for going on back roads, that depends. If they're dirt roads, you'll have to be very careful and very slow. If they're paved, you should be fine. Take a riding class regardless of bike choice, take it very easy at first and good luck.

backroads are all paved, i meant like curves and turns all the time. also the biggest thing about getting a bike is deffintly the looks. i love the way this one looks. is there any 500cc that are sporty looking liek the katana? i want something that has the front almost touching the front wheel.

Yeah, this bike will be good in the twisties. Its sporty. As far as other bikes, look at the websites and remember to stay away from the race replicas. (GSXR, ZX, CBR, R6 etc. too much for beginners.)

Sorry, I forgot to mention that you might want to look at the ninja 500, or the suzuki GS 500 S specifically.
