| | I've had my RK for nearly 8 years, and after 53,000 miles, it runs superb. Aside from preventive maintenence, all I've done is change the fluids every 2,000 miles and kept gas in it. Whether I'm riding solo or with my wife, it has plenty of power. It rides and handles extremely well, and gets 48 MPG on trips ( loaded with gear ) I have been thinking about trading for a new HD, but I've been reading many articles about overheating issues. A friend of mine purchased a new HD touring bike only to discover it had an overheating problem, along with oil consumption. It was fixed by putting on aftermarket valve seals, and a race tuner, but why should we, the consumers have to spend additional money just to get it to run correctly ? I may stick to my old 99 for awhile yet. |

| | Amen to that! I was looking to buy a 07 roadking classic after a lot of research I found that all 07 harleys are having problems or at least the ones that are ridden any length of time. Sense the harleys are out sourceing a lot of thier parts to overseas mfgs I have decided to get a metric that doesn't have these problems. Yamaha stratoliner, bigger bike,more power, and still air cooled. Thats the only way to fix this harley problem DONT BUY ONE. |

| | I'll probably end up riding mine as long as I possibly can. I still think HD will come out with a touring bike that has the liquid cooled V-ROD engine in it. If that happens, that will most likely be my choice. The only other option is to buy a new RK, and have the dealership put in a race tuner right away. Its approx. an additional $ 700, but at least it will run correctly. |
