| I.m looking at the Tiger and the Vstrom. Test rode both. The Tiger has great pickup and is fun, but on the freeway the windsreen was useless for me. I'm 6'3''. The Vstrom didn't seem as fast but I understand you can get a fairly tall windscreen for it. I'm coming off a VTX 1800 with a huge windscreen. Any input from other riders would be appreciated. I posted a similar question under the Vstrom.

| | I currently own a 2006 V-Strom 650. The main point that I want to make is that the stock windshield configuration will usually result in a lot of wind buffeting. However, Magstad makes adjustable mounts that work great. And there is a large selection of aftermarket windshields, so there is a combination out there that will eliminate any problems with wind. My suggestion would be to get the Magstad first, then see how that works with the stock screen. This is, of course, assuming you go with a V-Strom. I won't try to compare my V-Strom 650 with the Tiger since they are not really in the same class. The V-Strom 1000 is a better comparison (I'm assuming that is the model you are looking at) to the Tiger 1050. Personally, I don't think you could go wrong with either bike. The Tiger certainly wins out in the looks department. |
