Very strong battery smell and battery feels warm ( nearly hot ) to the touch, what may the problem be ?

Bad voltage regulator.
Battery is being over charged.
This was a common problem on the early outlanders. The voltage regulator was mounted by the radiator, got too hot and failed.
If you get a new one installed make sure it is in the back by the battery.
